Sunday, 19 June Charity shop haul My local charity shops had been delivering slim pickings before I went away, and I’d started to think that they simply weren’t going to have anything decent any more, but this week I felt the real urge to have a good trawl round them and it paid off. I seem to be finding more and more St Michael garments. For non-Brits or very young Brits , this was a brand from Marks and Spencer that ran from the s to , so if you find anything with that label in, it has to be 20th century.

The lack of detail in the London Marathon’s accounts is criticized in Friday evening’s programme by leading charity accountant Kate Sayer of the firm Sayer Vincent.
She said of the Marathon accounts: Lewisham would say only that it gave services ‘a reduced rate’. Greenwich Council charges the organisers nothing for cleaning up the after the race. The Channel 4 programme also claimed there was no need for running costs and staff pay to be so high – and that far more could be going to charitable grants. The London Marathon also offers charities the chance to buy packages that include adverts in magazines and on websites – plus running places in the race – in a further bid to get cash.
